Growing Tips:
- Green Leafy Lettuce & Red Lettuce: These cool-season crops grow best in the spring and fall. Keep the soil consistently moist, and for tender leaves, give them plenty of shade during hot weather.
- Tomatoes: A sunny spot and well-drained soil are essential for tomatoes. Regular pruning helps airflow and encourages healthy fruit production.
- Zucchini: One of our favorites! Zucchini plants need full sun and ample space to spread out. They thrive with regular watering and are perfect for water bath canning recipes.
- Onions: Start onions in early spring, and make sure they get plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil.
- Sweet Peas: These thrive in cool weather and need support to climb. Plant them early and water frequently for a sweet harvest.
- Hot Peppers & Green Peppers: Both peppers love the sun and warm weather. They require consistent watering and benefit from being grown in rich, well-drained soil.
- Beets & Carrots: Both root vegetables prefer loose, well-drained soil to develop their roots fully. Keep them consistently moist for best results.
- Spinach: A cool-season leafy green, spinach grows best in spring or fall. Plant it in partial shade and keep it watered.
- Rhubarb: This perennial thrives in rich, well-drained soil and requires full sun to grow. It’s best to harvest stalks in spring and early summer.
- Blueberries: These bushes need acidic soil, and they thrive when given a lot of sunlight. Regular pruning helps maintain a strong, healthy plant.
- Raspberries: These canes prefer well-drained, loamy soil and need a sunny spot to grow. Support their growth with trellises.
- Apple Trees: Apples grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. Regular pruning encourages strong, productive trees.
