A Harmonious Fusion of Slate and Wood
For this rustic bathroom vanity, the goal was to create a seamless balance between rugged natural elements and refined aesthetics. The Eagle Mountain Slate vanity countertop showcases deep, earthy tones with organic variations, bringing a natural artistry to the space. Complementing this natural stone bathroom countertop is a handcrafted wood backsplash and front trim, meticulously stained to match the slate bathroom countertop hues. This intentional pairing enhances the vanity’s cohesion, giving it a warm and inviting presence within the cabin bathroom design.

Rustic Elegance – Custom Slate Vanity Tops at Schweitzer Ski Resort
At Schweitzer Ski Resort, nestled in the mountains of Northern Idaho, a luxurious condo renovation embraced the natural beauty of slate. As part of this breathtaking transformation, Blue Slate, Inc. crafted four custom slate vanity tops, each showcasing the raw beauty of natural stone with a unique, rustic design.
A Tribute to Nature’s Beauty
Unlike mass-produced countertops, these vanity tops were meticulously cut and shaped to highlight the organic edges and natural contours of the slate. Rather than refining every edge into a uniform shape, the backsplashes were designed with a jagged, mountain peak effect, evoking the dramatic ridges of the surrounding landscape.
The bottoms of the backsplashes were carefully cut for a seamless fit, while the top edges were left in their natural form to create a one-of-a-kind, sculptural look. The combination of rough-hewn edges, rich earth tones, and natural cleft textures gives these countertops a character that is both bold and timeless.

The Eagle Mountain Slate flagstone used for the countertop offers a rich, earthy texture with natural color variations that harmonize beautifully with the surrounding pine tongue & groove walls. The countertop is accented by a pine wood trim on the front edge, seamlessly tying the materials together while adding a handcrafted touch.
The backsplash design was carefully crafted to maintain a balance between refinement and rugged charm. The bottom edge was cut clean, ensuring a snug fit against the countertop, while the top and side edges were left in their natural state, preserving the irregular contours of the slate. The result?
