In the early 2000’s, Jesse and Barby Schacher set out to produce high-quality decorative rock in Northeastern Washington. Over time, they refined their focus, specializing in WoodStone Decorative Rock products and, most recently, Blue Slate Road Base & Gravel—premium materials ideal for landscapes, driveways, and construction projects. With this shift, their business evolved into Blue Slate, Inc.

With over 35 years of experience in the landscape rock and aggregate industry, Jesse Schacher brings unmatched expertise to Blue Slate, Inc. Before launching the company, he spent 11 years as a supervisor at Pacific Rock Products in Vancouver, WA, managing Fisher Quarry for seven of those years. He also ran his own landscape rock company, Rock Solid, further honing his skills in sourcing and crafting top-tier rock products.

Beyond the quarry, Jesse and Barby Schacher have designed and installed stunning, low-maintenance landscapes and hardscapes on properties they’ve owned, as well as for friends and family. Their creativity and craftsmanship can be seen throughout this website and in our Photo Galleries.

When he’s not working with rock, Jesse enjoys hunting, fishing, welding, fabrication projects, and kicking back around the campfire with family and friends.
