With over 20 years of experience in the landscape rock industry, Barby Schacher plays a vital role in Blue Slate, Inc.. Before joining the rock business, she worked in real estate development and served as a Post Master Relief in Elk City, nestled in the heart of North Central Idaho’s backcountry.

In 2002, Barby and Jesse Schacher launched their own rock business, refining their focus over the years to specialize in BlueSlate WoodStone Decorative Rock and, most recently, Blue Slate Road Base & Gravel. As the company evolved, Cougar Ridge Stone, LLC became Blue Slate, Inc., with Barby handling the essential operations that keep everything running smoothly.

At Blue Slate, Inc., Barby manages customer service, sales, bookkeeping, marketing, and the company website. Whether assisting wholesale stone yards, contractors, or homeowners, she ensures a seamless experience from inquiry to order fulfillment.

Beyond the business, Barby is an accomplished artist, specializing in Wildlife and Western Art pastel paintings. She offers original artwork, fine art prints, and commission pieces when time allows.

In her spare time, she enjoys painting, arts & crafts, design, wildlife photography, gardening, and landscaping projects. Like Jesse, she especially loves gathering with family and friends around the campfire, making memories under the open sky.
